Please read this post carefully BEFORE nominating.

Instructions on How to Nominate

Everyone can nominate 5 fandoms with 10 relationships each.You can only match on tags that have been nominated and accepted into the tagset, so nominate anything you want to receive or offer.

To nominate:

• You read the Nomination Guidelines (this post!) and make sure you understand them — don't be afraid to ask me questions if you don't!
• You go to the tagset and make sure you're logged in to your AO3 account.
• You click the nominate button and fill in the nomination page with tags you want to request.
• When I have time, I approve them... assuming you filled it out correctly/assuming that I understand your nomination.
• If you did it wrong or I'm confused, I'll ask you about it in a nominations clarification post on this Dreamwidth community. You just have to comment on the post or email me to clear things up!

Tag Eligibility

This section is about what you can nominate, and therefore about what you can request!

Non-Recursive Fandoms

Any fictional, Naruto-related media is eligible for this exchange, including:

• Naruto
• Boruto
• Naruto video games and light novels
• Live Spectacle Naruto
• Rock Lee's Springtime of Youth
• The Tale of the Utterly Gutsy Shinobi (the published novel!)

I'm not actually very familiar with all subfandoms, so I will be deferring to nominators about, say,if the various live stage shows should be one fandom or several. That sort of question is a part of nomination clarifications, so make sure you keep up with those!

Recursive Fandoms

Recursive fandoms are fandoms made up of fanworks created for other fanworks. These fandoms are eligible for nomination HOWEVER they require extra work from nominators!

• I need proof that the author of the fanfiction you're nominating is okay with their fic being nominated as a recursive fandom in this exchange.
• For some recursive fandoms listed below, I already have this permission because I already knew the authors! For most of them this will not be the case.
• In order for your subfandom to be accepted, I will need the following information:
  • The title of the fic.
  • The author of the fic.
  • A link to the fic.
  • Proof they're okay with their fic being nominated for this exchange.
• Obtaining proof: Most authors probably don't have permission for this just sitting in their fanfiction.net or AO3 profile, of course, so you'll have to ask them! I will need a public or private comment from an account I can definitely be sure belongs to the author in question. For example:
  • A reply to a comment on the fic.
  • A statement added to their AO3/fanfiction.net profile.
  • A private message from their fanfiction.net account to my fanfiction.net account (which is wafflelate!)
  • A public comment, logged-in ask, or tumblr IM from a tumblr account that's publicly linked to their author account.
• You can direct authors to this post explaining what the exchange is and what exactly they're being asked to approve.

Already-accepted recursive fandoms:

• Dreaming of Sunshine and Reincarnation Roulette by Silver Queen. (Permission via Discord.)
• Sanitize by Sage Thrasher (Permission via Discord.)
• Abolish Private Property by Iaso and Sage Thrasher and all of Iaso's other fic. (Permission via Discord.)
• Bloodless by Tavina (Permission via Discord.)
• Catch Your Breath by Lang Noi (Liangnui) (Permission here.)
• Moonflower by fishebake (Permission given on a comment to this post.)
• Whose Allegiance Is Ruled by Expedience by Elizabeth Culmer (edenfalling) (Permission via Dreamwidth DM.)
• Naruto Original Characters by lesbianKakuzu (Permission via AO3.)

Crossovers

• You can nominate crossovers between Naruto subfandoms.
• You can request a crossover with any other fictional fandom! I will just assume the fandom exists and that you've spelled the character's names right, so spell-/fact-check your own nominations please.
• RPF crossovers are not allowed.
• All crossover relationships must have at least one Naruto(/Boruto/etc) character.

Character Eligibility

• All Naruto anime and manga characters are eligible in both the Naruto and Boruto fandoms, as I don't expect any of them stopped existing between one ending and the other beginning.
• Next Gen characters (like Boruto or Sarada) are only eligible under the Boruto fandom.
• Characters who only appear in Boruto are only eligible in Boruto.
• For other fandoms, please use your best judgement and only nominate characters you're reasonably sure exist in that version of the canon.
• Dreaming of Sunshine (Silver Queen) is eligible for recursive work and has a list of minor characters here.
• You can nominate unnamed characters if you can describe them concisely and clearly.
• You can nominate original characters with or without basic descriptors — for example, you could nominate "Gaara & Original Suna Character (Naruto)" or just "Gaara & Original Character (Naruto)".

Relationship Eligibility

Relationships can be romantic-and-or-sexual (/ or "shippy") or they can be platonic (& or "gen").

Furthermore:

• Relationships must be comprised of eligible characters.
• The only limit for number of characters you can have in a relationship is the character limit in the nomination input field.
• Threesomes, moresomes, age gap relationships, and crackships are all allowed. If you don't like something that was nominated, don't offer or request it.

Tag Formatting

It's important to format your nominations correctly! You need to know these things:

• AO3's algorithm can only match tags that are exactly the same.
• The tagset will be unhappy with you if you try to submit a tag in one fandom that already exists verbatim in another, which is why we need the fandom in the relationship. For example: Uzumaki Naruto & Haruno Sakura (Naruto) must be nominated with "(Naruto)" on the end so that Uzumaki Naruto & Haruno Sakura (Boruto) can also be nominated! . This is also known as disambiguation.
• Sometimes the tagset messes up and I have to reassociate tags with their fandoms, which is another reason why I need to know where your tags are supposed to be.
• If you try to nominate a tag in one category that already exists in another category, AO3 will tack something extra onto it.
  • For example, if you nomatined just Uzumaki Naruto in the Relationships category, AO3 would turn it into Uzumaki Naruto - Relationship
  • ...which also means if we nominated single characters who haven't been used before—like Hatake Norashi, as far as I know—into the Relationships category, people who try to use that single character in the Characters category would suddenly end up having to use Hatake Norashi - Character. :( That would be terrible.

SO, with that in mind... please follow these nomination guidelines:

Fandom Formatting

• Nominate Naruto manga and anime relationships/characters under Naruto
• Nominate Boruto manga and anime relationships/characters under Boruto: Naruto Next Generations
• All crossover relationships will go under Crossover Fandom
• Recursive fandoms should be nominated using the format TITLE - AUTHOR, for example, Sanitize - Sage Thrasher
• The only exception to this is Dreaming of Sunshine, which should be nominated Dreaming of Sunshine - Silver Queen (fanfic) because otherwise the archive thinks it's the same tag as the Naruto tag.
• Use AO3 canonicals for all other fandoms whenever possible; use your best judgement otherwise.

Non-Crossover Relationship Formatting

• ALL RELATIONSHIPS need to have their source fandom after them in parenthesis. You can abbreviate the fandom if you want, for example "(LSN)" instead of "(Live Spectacle Naruto)".
• Please use LASTNAME FIRSTNAME, for example Uzumaki Naruto.
• Nominate sexual and/or romantic relationships with a /. For example: Momochi Zabuza/Terumi Mei (DoS)
• Nominate platonic relationships with an &. For example: Uzumaki Boruto & Uzumaki Naruto (Boruto)
• Nominate single characters with "& None". For example: Hatake Kakashi & None (Naruto)
  • This doesn't mean Kakashi won't interact with anyone else, just that you want the focus to be on Kakashi and are open to other characters.
• You can also mix-and-match. For example: Nara Shikamaru/Tenten & Nara Shikako (DoS)
• You can put as many characters in a relationship tags as the length limit will allow.

Crossover Relationship Formatting

• For crossovers, you must put the appropriate fandom or fandom abbreviation in parenthesis after EVERY CHARACTER.
• For example, Uzumaki Naruto (Naruto) & Harry Potter (HP - JKR)
• This also applies to crossovers between subfandoms. For example, Haruno Sakura (Naruto) & Uchiha Sasuke (Boruto) or Uchiha Madara (Sanitize) & Senju Tobirama (Naruto)
• If you don't care what version of a character you get, you can just say so! For example, Hatake Kakashi (Naruto) & Edward Elric (Any Version)

Please Keep In Mind....

The tagset system on AO3 is kind of janky, so I can't see who's nominated what and I can't see all unapproved tags at the same time. We'll need to communicate via Dreamwidth if I have questions about your tags, so keep an eye out! I will link to all Dreamwidth posts on tumblr, but tumblr is pretty bad for direct communication so you will need to comment on Dreamwidth. Anonymous commenting will be turned on, so you won't need an account.
